Matthew Williams, LPC, DRCC, CCTP
(Pronouns He/Him/His)
Matthew Williams has worked in multiple levels of care (outpatient, IOP, and PHP) and has experience with diverse populations and presenting issues that span mood disorders to co-occurring issues, trauma, parent-child relational problems, and crisis intervention. These experiences have shaped him in ways that have given him insight not only into the human condition, but also into the innate tendency for all people to be on some forward momentum (tapped or untapped at the point of starting sessions).
Matthew has provided support to his clients through individual sessions, group work, family therapy, and parent support group facilitation. Professionally, his positions have been primarily focused on delivering coping skills-related concepts to children, adolescents and their families, but he also has experience with young adults and adults, especially males.
Techniques and theoretical orientation that he typically incorporates, include principles of Solution Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and DBT. However, the guiding principle that aligns most with his approach to therapy is the idea that his role is that of a provider who helps those who seek therapy to navigate paths that they would fair better with a support person they know is non-judgmental and is focused chiefly on their strengths. If you're reading this and would be interested in figuring out your next steps in said path, Matthew would be more than happy to walk that journey with you.
